Born in 1971 in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, Zaman Jassim has established himself as a prominent figure in the contemporary art scene. His mixed media works are celebrated for their visually striking forms, enriched with symbols, patterns, and calligraphic signs. Jassim’s art delves into themes of time, memory, and human connection, often drawing inspiration from cultural and celestial motifs.

In 2011, Jassim was honored with the Al Kharafi Biennial Award for Contemporary Arab Art in Kuwait, recognizing his significant contributions to the art world. He has held solo exhibitions in cities such as Beijing, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait, Muscat, Paris, Riyadh, and Seoul. His participation in group exhibitions spans across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East and North Africa, reflecting the universal appeal of his work.

Jassim’s creations are part of esteemed collections, including the Al Mansouria Foundation, the Barjeel Art Foundation, Emaar International, the Kinda Foundation, the League of Arab States, and the Saudi Aramco Company. His art is characterized by a harmonious blend of earthy colors and textures, often incorporating geometric forms and calligraphy to narrate rich visual stories.

One of his notable installations, When the Moon is Full (2021), is a contemplative piece that reflects on the inevitability of farewells and the beauty of fleeting moments. The artwork draws parallels between the full moon’s cycle and human life, using layers of sound, script, images, and illumination to transport viewers to a dimension beyond space and time. As Jassim explains, “Inspired by the unavoidability of farewells in life, this thoughtful piece reminds observers of the beauty in fleeting moments and the importance of creating positive impacts that transcend time.”

When the Moon is Full is now a permanent part of Riyadh Art’s collection, adorning the Qasr Al Hokm Downtown Metro Station. This installation invites viewers to reflect on the metaphorical similarities between humans and celestial bodies, urging us to appreciate the transient beauty of life and the lasting impact we can have on the universe.

Through his evocative works, Zaman Jassim continues to inspire audiences, encouraging a deeper contemplation of life’s cycles and the connections that bind us all.
