Desert Lines
In Desert Lines (2021), Saudi artist Haider Alawi Al-Alawi captures the quiet dynamism of natural elements through sculpted stone. Drawing inspiration from the shifting sands of the desert and the rhythmic movement of ocean waves, the artist explores how nature etches patterns into the landscape—lines that appear and disappear, yet endure in memory.
This work reflects Al-Alawi’s deep engagement with the forces of wind and water, and the visual language they leave behind. Carved with soft, undulating grooves, the sculpture evokes both geological and marine textures—linking Riyadh’s desert environment with broader elemental rhythms.
Installed at the King Abdulaziz Historical Center (KAHC), Desert Lines becomes a meditative presence in the park, inviting viewers to consider how time, motion, and nature quietly shape the world around us.
