Jumana Ghouth
umana Ghouth is a Saudi curator and cultural strategist whose work centers on exhibition-making, institutional development, and cultural engagement. Based in Jeddah, she brings over ten years of experience in Saudi Arabia’s contemporary art scene, where she has shaped artistic discourse through her work with galleries, public programs, and cultural authorities.
Ghouth began her curatorial career at ATHR, Saudi Arabia’s first contemporary art platform, where she served as Curator and Exhibitions Manager from 2011 to 2018. During this time, she collaborated with prominent artists including Ahmed Mater, Dana Awartani, and Nasser Al Salem, curating exhibitions that expanded the visibility of Saudi artists on the international stage. She was instrumental in organizing The Language of Human Consciousness (2014), one of ATHR’s landmark shows featuring regional and international artists.
She later joined King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) as Head of Arts & Culture, commissioning public art and launching creative programming. From 2019 to 2021, Ghouth led the Public Engagement Department of the Jeddah Historic District Program under the Ministry of Culture, where she designed cultural initiatives within Al-Balad’s UNESCO-listed site.
Ghouth’s curatorial practice is informed by interdisciplinary research and site-specific exploration. In 2024, she curated Matters Through Matter at Sharbatly House, a collaboration with philosopher Graham Harman exploring object-oriented ontology and material culture. She holds a BA in Design and an MA in Intercultural Practices from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London.
Working independently today, Ghouth continues to advise institutions and curate projects that center regional narratives while building global connections. Her work consistently advocates for inclusive engagement and long-term cultural impact.
